Grilled Saba Fish/ Mackerel 烤鲭鱼

Saba is the Japanese word for Pacific mackerel, very commonly consumed throughout Japan, and here in Singapore, we usually eat this in Japanese restaurants or simply cook it at home. Saba is available at an affordable price, if you've never tried Saba, you should! This nutritious fish is tasty on its own with a rich flavour, you don't need to add much seasoning to it, just salt and pepper or some lemon pepper to elevate the taste!

Cooking fish is such a breeze if you could minus the oil from deep-frying or pan-frying. I usually cook Saba using the Ninja Foodi multi-cooker, cook without oil splattering around the kitchen. This all-in-1 pressure cooker + air fryer does more than fry and grill, they simply cook your food for you in a simple machine. If you love fried fish, look no further. This is definitely a worthy investment for you! You can use it to air fry, bake, grill, steam or stir fry fish, it will cook the food just right, no matter what kind of protein/ meat you're cooking.

Method:

1. Rub some salt, pepper, and a thin layer of oil or spray some oil on the Saba. Preheat Ninja Foodi GRILL mode 3mins.

You can pan-fry the Saba but I won't recommend it because Saba has a good amount of fat content, your kitchen will "smell oily" after pan-frying the fish. I'd highly recommend cooking this using Ninja Foodi, this cooker helps prepare quick meals without hassle. If you're interested, you can use our exclusive discount code to buy at the best market rate. I've attached the details and links below for easy reference.

2. Place the Saba on the reversible rack, and grill for 8-10 mins or until crisp and golden. Serve right away.
Note: Make sure to pat dry the Saba with a kitchen towel before adding seasoning. Spray some oil on the rack to avoid sticking. You can use GRILL or AIRCRISP mode for cooking Saba in the Ninja Foodi.
