How to prepare Dashi (aka Fish Broth) 如何准备日式鲣鱼调味汤

Learn how to prepare Japanese Fish Broth aka Dashi from scratch. It's easy and can be used in cooking wide variety of Japanese cuisine. 


20g Dried Bonito Flakes (Katsuobushi)

For small portion: 2x 3g packs + 180ml water.

600ml Water

1. Heat water in a saucepan, bring to boil.

2. Add in bonito flakes. Lower the heat and simmer for 2 minutes.

3. Remove from heat. Let it sit for few minutes. Strain and let it cool. 

You may add some Japanese Kombu 昆布 for greater flavour.
